British born artist and photographer has been based in New York for over twenty years. As one of less than ten people in the world who own a working Quantel Paintbox machine. Wilson is considered the first professional photographer to specialize in the manipulation of photos using a digital paint system. His Paintbox art was featured in magazines including Siggraph's Leonardo and Creative Review, record covers and in the 1988 Art & Computers international exhibition. Wilson has collected and discovered the largest collection of Paintbox art, including unseen work by David Hockney and Keith Haring. He also has become the unofficial Quantel Paintbox archive, with thousands of items, some of which he has donated to institutions such as the Computer History Museum. He curated a 50th anniversary Quantel Exhibition held at the British Computer Society in 2023. He has also co-curated a Paintbox exhibition and talks at the Sidney Nolan Trust, and exhibited a solo show of his work at Blackpool College. He recently presented a Paintbox Art video at Tate Modern for their TATE late event in November 2024.
